These statements encapsulate our commitment to reshaping agriculture to benefit both people and the planet. Our strategic plan is the blueprint that will guide us in achieving this mission and vision.

Key Sections of the Strategic Plan

SAN in 2030: Leading the Transformation of Agriculture for a Sustainable Future

This section reflects on our accomplishments and areas for improvement from the previous strategic plan (2019-2024) and sets the stage for our ambitions moving forward. We emphasize our growth, the strategic realignment in 2021, and the role of our global impact network in driving sustainable agriculture. By enhancing collaboration and engagement among members, we aim to create a vibrant ecosystem where ideas flourish, partnerships bloom, and opportunities for impactful change multiply.

Working towards Sustainable Development

Agriculture is at the intersection of economic, social, and environmental concerns, playing a pivotal role in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This section highlights how our initiatives align with these global goals, addressing challenges like poverty, hunger, and environmental degradation. We emphasize the interconnected nature of the SDGs and the need for coordinated efforts across sectors to achieve sustainable agriculture.

The Sustainable Development Goals exhibit profound interconnections, particularly evident in the realm of sustainable and regenerative agriculture. SAN’s mission and delivery is thought and executed through the lens of the SDGs.

SAN’s Approach

In this critical and challenging time, SAN endeavors to become a global ecosystem of impact through radical collaboration. We aim to transform agriculture into a powerful tool for advancing evidence-based climate action, encouraging thriving landscapes, and empowering resilient, equitable communities. Our approach involves concerted and coordinated action across sectors and borders to build solutions that restore ecosystems and ensure profitable production, supporting the livelihoods that depend on agriculture.

Through SAN signature programs and SAN members’ own initiatives, we provide impactful solutions in sustainable and regenerative agriculture for corporations, public and private institutions, and communities.

Mission and Vision Statements

Our mission and vision are the guiding lights for our strategic plan. They inspire and drive every initiative we undertake, ensuring that our efforts are aligned with our overarching goal of transforming agriculture for the betterment of communities and nature.

Organizational Values

SAN’s values of integrity, radical collaboration, inclusivity, curiosity, empathy, and adaptability form the foundation of our work. These principles guide our actions and decisions, fostering a culture of ethical behavior, innovative thinking, and inclusive practices. By adhering to these values, we create an environment where all stakeholders feel valued and empowered to contribute to our mission.

Strategic Goals and Objectives

Our strategic goals are designed to position SAN as the foremost global impact network in sustainable agriculture. These goals include:

  • Elevating SAN’s Global Impact: Enhance our funding portfolio, deepen existing funding commitments, and expand our reach to foster a collaborative ecosystem.

  • Advancing Climate Solutions: Build capacity among stakeholders to support and implement climate-smart and regenerative agriculture solutions.

  • Enhancing Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: Promote nature-based solutions and build capacity for integrated pest management and pesticide-use risk mitigation.

  • Empowering Farming Communities: Strengthen the resilience and equity of farming communities through inclusive programming and capacity-building initiatives.

Becoming a Global Impact Network

By fostering a collective sense of purpose, trust, and coordinated action, we aim to build a robust and dynamic network that drives transformational change in agriculture.

Our Organizational Sustainability Model

We recognize the importance of engaging a diverse array of stakeholders to achieve our mission. This model involves strategic engagement with corporations, bilateral and multilateral institutions, and individual advocates, each playing a crucial role in advancing sustainable agriculture. Our network provides a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and joint initiatives, creating a synergistic environment where each stakeholder benefits from collective expertise and shared purpose.

Creating Value for Our Stakeholders

This section emphasizes our commitment to creating a global impact by promoting sustainable agricultural practices across diverse regions. By leveraging our extensive network, we can address pressing challenges and drive meaningful change worldwide.

SAN is a force for transformational global impact through local specialization and grassroots empowerment. Our growing and diverse membership of 33 cross-cutting organizations from across six continents mobilize over US$500 million annually.

A Governance Structure for Collaborative Transformation
